Desde el 2014, la Beca Catalizadora ha sido parte importante del programa de becas y apoyos de TEOR/éTica y tiene como objetivo potenciar organizaciones y colectivos artísticos que están teniendo un papel importante en la transformación del paisaje cultural de la región Centroamericana y del Caribe, tanto a escala local como internacional. Contribuir al sostenimiento de iniciativas más pequeñas en escala, no formales o no institucionalizadas es una forma de construir una ecología artística capaz de responder a las necesidades de manera más rápida, coherente y experimental.

Este año, nuevamente gracias al generoso apoyo del DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program con fondos del German Federal Foreign Office (AA) y de la red Arts Collaboratory y DOEN, estaremos otorgando seis becas de US $3000 (tres mil dólares estadounidenses) a las organizaciones o colectivos que sean seleccionados por medio de convocatoria abierta. El dinero de la beca podrá ser utilizado para continuar el trabajo que estas organizaciones o colectivos vienen realizando, expandir sus alcances, implementar nuevas dinámicas, entre otros.

Beca dirigida a:

Organizaciones y colectivos independientes de Centroamérica y el Caribe archipiélago (esto no incluye Colombia, Venezuela y México) que están construyendo comunidad a través de las artes visuales contemporáneas (no incluye: cine, teatro, danza ni literatura), fomentando las intersecciones entre el arte y el activismo, y teniendo un impacto en la esfera pública a través del compromiso de tomar el arte como un espacio común desde el cual conectar a las personas y abordar cuestiones sociales urgentes.

Dotación de la beca:

USD$3000 para cada organización y/o colectivo seleccionados.

Nuestro deseo es poder reconocer y contribuir a iniciativas artísticas y culturales que vienen operando en contextos con dificultades económicas, sociales y políticas, así como señalar la importancia de que estos proyectos sigan apostando por construir comunidad y activar formas de pensar críticamente el presente desde el arte.

Este año, nuevamente gracias al generoso apoyo del DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program con fondos del German Federal Foreign Office (AA) y de la red Arts Collaboratory y DOEN, estaremos otorgando  seis becas  de US $3000 (tres mil dólares estadounidenses) a las organizaciones o colectivos que sean seleccionados por medio de convocatoria abierta. El dinero de la beca podrá ser utilizado para continuar el trabajo que estas organizaciones o colectivos vienen realizando, expandir sus alcances, implementar nuevas dinámicas, entre otros.

Por segundo año consecutivo estaremos compartiendo un mapa actualizado de las organizaciones artísticas de América Central y el Caribe, que será publicado al final del proceso. Además, en  el primer trimestre del 2022 se organizará un encuentro virtual que busca conversar de manera abierta sobre los proyectos desarrollados y cómo nos estamos organizando en nuestros contextos ante las coyunturas actuales.

QUIÉN PUEDE APLICAR:

Organizaciones y colectivos independientes de Centroamérica y el Caribe archipiélago (esto no incluye Colombia, Venezuela y México) que están construyendo comunidad a través de las artes visuales contemporáneas (no incluye: cine, teatro, danza ni literatura), fomentando las intersecciones entre el arte y el activismo, y teniendo un impacto en la esfera pública a través del compromiso de tomar el arte como un espacio común desde el cual conectar a las personas y abordar cuestiones sociales urgentes.

DOTACIÓN DE LA BECA:

USD$3000 para cada organización y/o colectivo seleccionados.

REQUISITOS:

• Las organizaciones y/o colectivos de artes visuales deben estar basadas en Centroamérica y/o el Caribe archipiélago (esto NO INCLUYE Colombia, Venezuela y México).
• Las organizaciones y/o colectivos de artes visuales contemporáneas deben tener por lo menos 2 años de existencia.
• Se debe presentar documentos que respalden la operación de la organización/colectivo durante al menos 2 años.
• Se dará prioridad a aquellas organizaciones y colectivos que no hayan sido beneficiados con esta misma beca en los últimos 2 años.
• Las organizaciones y/o colectivos de artes visuales deben entregar un informe administrativo y una breve descripción narrativa sobre el uso de la beca para la primera semana de julio 2022.

NO SE TOMARÁN EN CUENTA PROPUESTAS QUE NO CUMPLAN CON ESTOS REQUISITOS.

FORMA DE PRESENTACIÓN DE SOLICITUDES

Cada organización y/o colectivo debe llenar el siguiente formulario de Google Forms.

COMPROMISOS DE LOS BENEFICIARIOS:

Firmar un contrato de cumplimiento donde se acuerda lo siguiente:

• Forma de pago de la beca.
• Participación en un evento público en línea en febrero de 2022.
• Entregar un reporte administrativo y de actividades para inicios de julio de 2022.
• Temas relativos a la mención de la beca en la circulación de cualquier material asociado a la misma.

PROCESO DE SELECCIÓN:

Las propuestas serán consideradas por un jurado compuesto por Leonardo González (Honduras), Mariela Richmond (Costa Rica) y Johan Mijail (República Dominicana) junto con la Dirección Artística Colectiva de TEOR/éTica  (Paula Piedra, Daniela Morales, Lola Malavasi). Mediante deliberación se hará una selección de hasta 6 propuestas.

Since 2014, the Catalyst Grant has been an important part of TEOR/éTica’s grants and support program. It aims to propel organizations and artistic collectives that play an key role in the transformation of the cultural landscape of the Central American and Caribbean region, both locally and internationally. Supporting smaller scale, non-formal, or non-institutionalized initiatives is a way of building an artistic ecology capable of responding to needs in a faster, more coherent, and experimental way.

This year, thanks to the generous support of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), and the Arts Collaboratory network and DOEN, we will be awarding six scholarships of US $3,000 (three thousand US dollars) to organizations or collectives selected through an open call. The grant can be used to continue the work that these organizations or collectives have been doing, expand their scope, implement new dynamics, among others.

Grant aimed at:

Organizations and independent collectives from Central America and the Caribbean archipelago (this DOES NOT include Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico) that are: building community through contemporary visual arts (DOES NOT include: cinema, theater, dance, or literature), fostering the connection between art and activism, and having an impact on the public sphere, through their commitment to take art as a common space to connect people and address urgent social issues.

We wish to recognize and contribute to artistic and cultural initiatives that operate in contexts with economic, social, and political difficulties. We also aim to spotlight the significance of how these projects build community and activate ways of thinking critically about the present through art.

This year, thanks to the generous support of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), and the Arts Collaboratory network and DOEN, we will be awarding six scholarships of US $3,000 (three thousand US dollars) to organizations or collectives selected through an open call. The grant can be used to continue the work that these organizations or collectives have been doing, expand their scope, implement new dynamics, among others.

For the second consecutive year, we will be sharing an updated map of arts organizations from Central America and the Caribbean to be published at the end of the process. In addition, we will organize a virtual talk at the beginning of 2022, which will discuss the projects developed, and organizational methods in our contexts that help us face the present challenges.

WHO CAN APPLY:

Organizations and independent collectives from Central America and the Caribbean archipelago (this DOES NOT include Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico) that are: building community through contemporary visual arts (DOES NOT include: cinema, theater, dance, or literature), fostering the connection between art and activism, and having an impact on the public sphere, through their commitment to take art as a common space to connect people and address urgent social issues.

ENDOWMENT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP:

USD $3000 for each organization and/or collective selected.

REQUIREMENTS:

• The organization and/or collective must be based in Central America and/or the Caribbean archipelago (this DOES NOT INCLUDE Colombia, Venezuela, and Mexico).
• The organization and/or collective has to have at least two years of existence.
• Present documents that give evidence of the existence of the organization/collective for at least two years.
• Priority will be given to those organizations and groups that have not benefited from this same scholarship in the last two years.
• Visual arts organizations and/or collectives must submit an administrative report and a brief narrative description of the use of the scholarship by the first week of July 2022.

PROPOSALS THAT DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

GRANTEE AGREEMENTS:

Selected grantees must sign a contract where they agree to the following:

• Grant payment method
• Participation in an online public event in February 2022
• Submit an administrative report of activities by July 2022
• Matters regarding mention of the grant in the circulation of any material associated with it

SELECTION PROCESS

The received proposals will be revised by Leonardo González (Honduras), Mariela Richmond (Costa Rica) and Johan Mihail (Dominican Republic), alongside TEOR/éTica’s Collective Artistic Direction (Paula Piedra, Daniela Morales, Lola Malavasi). Through an internal discussion, up to six proposals will be selected.
