Mudam Luxembourg wishes to appoint a Head of Artistic Programmes and Content, a new role created to assist the museum in advancing its ambition to be a focal point for contemporary art in Europe and beyond. Mudam’s mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of the most relevant art of our times for the largest possible public through its collection, temporary exhibitions, programmes, and partnerships.
Opened in 2006 in a purpose-built building designed by the renowned Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, Mudam is located in the Park Draï Eechelen overlooking the historic city of Luxembourg.
The programme, which is multi-disciplinary in nature, includes between six to eight temporary exhibitions of varying scales each year alongside changing collection displays, commissioned projects, and a programme of sculptural interventions in the grounds of the museum.
Reporting to the Director, Suzanne Cotter, the Head of Artistic Programmes and Content will be responsible for supporting the direction of Mudam by providing leadership to the curatorial and collection teams in the development of a world class programme of exhibitions and a collection of reference for Luxembourg and in Europe. In contributing to the development of the museum in the 21st century they will work collaboratively with colleagues across the museum and with museum partners.
Mudam seeks an experienced curator with a track record of excellence in exhibition making and with significant experience of working at a senior level in museums or artistic institutions. They will be part of an international network of artists, curators and cultural thinkers, in touch with developments globally, with experience of working with collections and acquisitions, and with a record of published writing and catalogues in their portfolio. They will have experience of managing teams, and be an excellent communicator and team-player able to contribute to the work and activities of Mudam at the highest level.
