FRANKFURTER KUNSTVEREIN
The Frankfurter Kunstverein (founded in 1829) is a national and internationally renowned exhibition venue for contemporary art and one of the oldest and largest art associations (Kunstvereine) in Germany. Since 1962 it has been located at the Steinernes Haus on the Rőmerberg where it has over 800 sq. meters of exhibition space at its disposal.
Since current director Dr. Holger Kube Ventura is leaving to pursue new challenges in the future, we are now looking for a successor preferably for late summer or fall 2014. We are searching for a creative personality who will assume responsibly for both the artistic and administrative management of Frankfurter Kunstverein. Presently, Frankfurter Kunstverein presents annually four-to-six theme-based exhibitions, an additional one-to-three festivals, as well as forty-to-eighty auxiliary events. The team consists of 5.5 full-time and approximately twelve freelance employees and is assisted by the board and advisory board of the Kunstverein.
Requirements for your application are:
• a degree in art history or similar qualifications,
• excellent knowledge of the international art scene and the ability to discover new developments therein,
• excellent networking with stakeholders and institutions at different levels,
• a vision for the future program of Frankfurter Kunstverein,
• management experience in the professional art exhibition context including personnel management,
• strong communication and mediation skills and the ability to run a complex institution responsibly, efficiently and strategically,
• experience in securing project-specific, third-party funding as well as business management skills including budget planning and monitoring,
• keen interest in the arts and culture scene of the Frankfurt-Rhine Main region and a willingness to cooperate with other institutions.
This is a full-time position compensated in orientation on the Wage Agreement for Public Service (TVőD-L E14). Essential to this position is a permanent place of residency in Frankfurt or the region as well as an excellent command of spoken and written German and English.
