- scanning_mapping berlin
- Suggested cartography in nine plates for Berlin, considering first of all the constant flow (the river Spree), the city scars (such as the wall), and the main urban axis: Unter der Linden and Karl Marx Alee. Followed by: universities and alike (e.g. academies) / Schinkel's Berlin / museums / museum's cousins (e.g. libraries, memorials, botanical garden, zoo, anatomical theatre) / the modernist Berlin / and finally the Humboldt Forum. This cartography was produced for a lunch talk given at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory Image Knowledge Gestaltung of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin Germany in the 22nd of November 2016. A project and presentation by Martin Grossmann with maps designed by Pablo Fernandez Vallejo
- Scanning Berlin_Imaging Humboldt Forum
- Text that resumes Martin Grossmann presentation "Scanning Berlin_Imaging the Humboldt Lab at the Humboldt Forum" as visiting researcher in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory Image Knowledge Gestaltung at Humboldt Universität in Berlin, on the 22nd of November 2016. A presentation that tries to understand the role of the Humboldt Lab within the Humboldt Forum and to imagine how it should operate and relate not only to the Humboldt Forum and its site and context (in particular the Museum Island of Berlin and the cultural and academic cityscape after Germany’s reunification) but also to »global culture«
- video Scanning Berlin_Imaging Humboldt Lab at Humboldt Forum
- During 2 months (mid September to mid November) as visiting researcher of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory Image Knowledge Gestaltung from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (Set-2016 a Jan 2017), Martin Grossmann visited more than 35 cultural venues in Berlin (museums, libraries, art and architectural spaces, etc.), more than 10 cultural/academic/ scientific /urban locations (e.g. Hansaviertel, Friedrichshain, Dahlem, Postdam, etc). Those visits have generated around 2.500 photos. Some of this material will still be uploaded to the site of the Forum Permanente http://www. forumpermanente.org. This historical-cultural-critical exploration as a flâneur in Berlin’s jetztzeit (by walking and moving around with a bike and public transport) was planned aiming the production of a Gestaltung that could enhance the understanding of the role and profile of the Humboldt Lab within the Humboldt Forum. The mapping + the atlas + the script & slideshow are results of this scanning/exploration. So this video is part of this effort, and from its turn, brings together references from different collections and museums, references as well from some urban contexts, architectures, the construction of the Humboldt Forum and also regarding the exhibition that the cluster has curated at Martin Gropious Bau from Sept 2016 to January 2017: +ultra. knowledge & gestaltung <https://www.berlinerfestspiele.de/en/berliner-festspiele/programm/bfs-gesamtprogramm/programmdetail_175332.html>
