SUPPORT DE APPEL ARTS CENTRE
De Appel needs your support, now more than ever. After a board-crisis following the departure of the previous director, de Appel received a negative recommendation from the Council for Culture (Raad voor Cultuur) causing the organization to drop out of the basic infrastructure for the arts (BIS) and thereby loosing more than half her budget from January 2017 onwards. The survival of the organization is on the line and this exceptional situation calls for an exceptional request: Support de Appel by means of a financial contribution, occasionally or structurally.
De Appel, the final remaining and most renowned art institution within the middle-segment in Amsterdam, brings people, objects and ideas together to explore the yet unknown. With an experimental, open and culturally diverse approach, the new program focuses on the intellectually and emotionally curious, (non-)specialized art enthusiast. De Appel is in constant flux to remain critical towards the constantly changing social, societal and cultural context, both in the Netherlands as well as globally.
De Appel is working hard towards a fresh start with a new board and director and a relentlessly driven team. The planned program for the coming years promises to be outstanding, both internationally and nationally, with at the core an open Appel which is a constructive and leading player in the city of Amsterdam. To realize this program de Appel needs your financial support. Moreover, the financial support of (private) investors such as yourself underlines the importance and support base of de Appel.
Meanwhile, less costly accommodation is being searched for and a re-organization seems inevitable. Your support will therefor be intrinsically tied to the program; the artistic-substantive approach of de Appel that has made the institution so unique. Supporting de Appel contributes to the continuance of this exceptional organization with a renowned status that is highly praised for it’s array of experimental (performance) art.
