CIMAM's Annual Conference(International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collections of Modern Art) will be held November 21-22, 2005, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This meeting will gather experts in museum and curatorial studies to discuss topics such as the role of the art museum, the erosion of the public sphere, the confusion between ownership and custody, the right to history, virtuosity and production, and the geopolitics of knowledge. Follow the CIMAM's conference through the Pemanent Forum's reports and click here for further information www.cimam.org ContentsWith a 2-day format, CIMAM 2005 Annual Conference Museums: Intersections in a Global Scene will comprise 4 lectures/sessions of 45 minutes, each followed by a panel featuring 3 or 4 discussion leaders engaging in a 45 minute debate, and an hour of open ended discussion for attendees to share ideas and work out conclusions. This layout is intended to elicit both in-depth thinking and critical responses on topics that we consider central in museum and art practice today, including the role of the art museum, the erosion of the public sphere, the confusion between ownership and custody, the right to history, virtuosity and production, and the geopolitics of knowledge.
