Maria Inigo Clavo

Pós-doutora pela Universidade de São Paulo (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo – Fapesp), é pesquisadora e por vezes curadora e artista, com doutorado em Belas Artes pela Universidade Complutense de Madrid. Seu trabalho teórico centra-se na colonialidade, migração, alteridade, tradução e arte na América Latina, com especial atenção à arte brasileira.

 

Maria Iñigo Clavo holds a postdoctoral Fellowship in University of Sao Paulo (FAPESP), is a researcher and sometimes curator and artist, with a Ph.D in Fine Arts from Universidad Complutense of Madrid. Her theoretical work is focused on coloniality, migration, otherness, translation, and art in Latin America with special attention to Brazilian Art. Currently is Associated Researcher at ‘Fórum Permanente’, and Instituto de Estudos Avançados of University of Sao Paulo.

She is part of the independent research group Peninsula, procesos coloniales y prácticas artísticas y curatoriales in collaboration with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. She was a researcher for the AHRC project Meeting Margins: Transnational Art in Europe & Latin America 1950-1978, University of Essex and University of the Arts London. Since 2008 she has been teaching at the European University of Madrid, and at the MA of Curating Latin American Art at the University of Essex with a focus on multiculturalism, postcolonial theory, and art and politics in Latin America. Maria has curated exhibitions and events at Matadero Madrid, at Universidad Complutense/Medialab Madrid, and at Le Cube in Rabat, where she co-curated with Anna Raimondo the project Tradition, Translation, Tradition. She curated the exhibition Ruido Branco in Jaqueline Martins Gallery with artist as Bill Lundberg, Leticia Parente or Anna Bella Geiger. She has also collaborated with a variety of publications, such as Versión/sur, Concinnitas, Revista de Occidente, Bilboquet, Re-visiones, Lugar Común, and others.
